Planning a wedding can feel like learning a whole new language. Between choosing the perfect venue (hint, hint!) and wrangling your wedding party, you’re constantly bombarded with acronyms. Don’t worry, we’re here to translate the alphabet soup of wedding planning into something digestible – and a little bit funny!

From the moment you say “yes,” you’ll dive headfirst into a world of initialisms. Let’s decode some of the most common ones that pop up in your inbox, during venue visits, and in those endless planning spreadsheets:

A is for ASAP: As Soon As Possible. Your planner might say, “We need that RSVP list ASAP!” This usually means “yesterday,” so get cracking!

B is for Best Man: No, not a superhero, just the groom’s chosen sidekick. His duties include planning the bachelor party and hopefully not losing the rings.

C is for COD (Cash on Delivery): Kidding! Just making sure you’re paying attention.

D is for DOC: Day-Of Coordinator. Your fairy godmother for the wedding day. They’ll handle all the behind-the-scenes chaos so you can actually enjoy your champagne.

E is for ETA: Estimated Time of Arrival. Crucial for keeping your bridal party on schedule. “What’s the ETA on the hair and makeup team?”

F is for FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions. You can save yourself some stress by checking the FAQ section on your venue’s website (we’ve one!).

G is for GOB: Groom’s Old Buddy. Not really an acronym, but you’ll encounter a few of these. He’s usually harmless.

H is for HOB: Happy On Budget. The ultimate goal, right?

I is for I Do: The two most important words you’ll say!

J is for JIT: Just In Time. Like when your florist delivers the bouquets precisely when you need them for photos.

K is for KTHXBYE: We wish it meant “Okay, thanks, goodbye” to all your worries, but sadly, it’s not a real wedding acronym.

L is for LBD: Little Black Dress. The go-to for many wedding guests.

M is for MOB/MOG: Mother of the Bride / Mother of the Groom. The lovely ladies who’ve waited for this day just as long as you have (and who probably have strong opinions on floral arrangements).

N is for NBD: No Big Deal. What do you try to tell yourself when you’re overwhelmed, but it’s totally a big deal!

O is for OMG: Oh My Gosh. Your reaction when you see your venue beautifully decorated.

P is for POC: Point of Contact. The person to call if something goes sideways. At our venue, we’ll make sure you know exactly who that is!

Q is for Q&A: Questions and Answers. Please address all your questions during the venue tours.

R is for RSVP: Répondez s’il vous plaît (French for “Please respond”). The bane of every couple’s existence is when guests forget to send them back.

S is for STD: Save The Date. The first official announcement of your big day.

T is for TBH: To Be Honest. What your fiancé says when you ask if he really likes the linen colour.

U is for UGH: The sound you make when you realise you forgot to invite Aunt Mildred’s third cousin twice removed.

V is for VIP: Very Important Person. That’s you and your partner on your wedding day!

W is for WP: Wedding Planner. Your guiding light through the planning maze.

X is for XOXO: Kisses and Hugs. For all the love you’ll feel!

Y is for YOLO: You Only Live Once. So make your wedding epic!

Z is for ZZZ: What you’ll finally get to do once the reception is over and the last guest has left!

See? Not so scary after all! While wedding planning has its own lingo, remember that at our venue, we’re here to help you navigate every step, no acronyms necessary (unless you want them!). Ready to chat about your big day?
