Different Wedding Destinations Require Different Prep

A beach wedding in Mauritius, a winter wedding in the Drakensberg and a destination celebration in Europe might all look equally beautiful on Instagram, but your body doesn’t experience them in quite the same way.

The destination you choose should influence more than your packing list. It should influence how you prepare.

Beach wedding? Think hydration + sun

Hot weather, humidity, overindulgence and long hours outdoors can make staying hydrated particularly important.

In the weeks leading up to your trip, establish good hydration habits rather than trying to compensate once you’re there. On the wedding day itself, drink regularly, eat properly and take breaks from direct sun.

And don’t forget the obvious: SPF, sunglasses and a hat are beauty essentials too.

European summer or long-haul destination? Think travel recovery

A long flight, disrupted sleep and a significant time-zone change can leave you feeling anything but wedding-ready.

Build in recovery time where possible. Arrive early enough to adjust, prioritise sleep, keep moving during long travel days and stay hydrated.

If jet lag is a concern, The IV Bar also offers therapies focused on hydration and recovery.

Mountain or cooler destination? Think circulation + recovery

Cold weather, altitude, hiking between venues and long days exploring can put different demands on your body.

Dress appropriately, stay hydrated even when you aren’t sweating heavily, and don’t underestimate the value of rest. If your itinerary includes lots of walking or physical activity, consider building recovery time into your schedule rather than treating it as an afterthought.

Remote or tropical destination? Think gut health

New foods, unfamiliar water, different meal times and plenty of celebratory eating can make your digestive system work harder than usual.

Don’t suddenly overhaul your diet before travelling. Instead, establish good habits beforehand and consider bringing familiar digestive-support options with you.

And whatever the destination…

Your most useful pre-wedding preparation is still the unglamorous stuff: sleep well, eat consistently, hydrate, move your body and give yourself enough time to recover.

Then consider whether additional support – from supplements to IV therapy – makes sense for your individual needs. A registered nurse at one of our stores may help you determine exactly that.
