What your body actually needs before the big day.
Let’s clear something up.
Your body does not need a three-day juice cleanse because you’re getting married.
It already has an incredibly sophisticated detoxification system.
Your liver, kidneys, digestive tract, lungs and skin all play roles in processing and eliminating substances your body doesn’t need. There is no magic tea or juice that suddenly “flushes out” years of bad decisions.
What your body does need is support for the systems that are already doing the work.
That means adequate hydration, enough protein and fibre, regular bowel movements, quality sleep, physical activity and a nutrient-dense diet.
It also means giving your liver and digestive system a break from the habits that tend to creep in during wedding season: excessive alcohol, highly processed foods, irregular meals and surviving on coffee between appointments.
Think support, not punishment.
In the weeks before your wedding, focus on:
- Hydration: Water supports normal kidney function and digestion.
- Fibre: Fruit, vegetables, legumes and whole grains support healthy digestion and regularity.
- Protein: Essential for maintaining and repairing tissues and supporting overall nutrition.
- Sleep: Your body does a huge amount of repair and regulation while you sleep.
- Movement: Regular physical activity supports circulation, metabolic health and digestion.
And if you want to take a more personalised approach, The IV Bar can help you assess your wellness needs and determine what additional support may be appropriate for you.
The goal of a pre-wedding “detox” should never be to punish your body for enjoying your life. Instead, it should give your body’s natural systems the conditions they need to function well.
