Flowers are often seen as a luxury, but behind every beautiful bouquet or wedding installation is an industry balancing artistry, logistics, and rising costs. One of the biggest misconceptions in the wedding industry is the idea that florists can simply “go cheaper.” In reality, wedding flowers are one of the most detailed and labour-intensive parts of creating a celebration.
Many brides dream of full floral arches, overflowing centerpieces, bridesmaid bouquets, hanging installations, and romantic ceremony arrangements ,all inspired by Pinterest and luxury weddings online. But what many don’t realise is that those breathtaking floral moments require hundreds, sometimes thousands, of stems, hours of preparation, and an incredible amount of skilled design work. Wedding flowers are not just “a few roses in a vase.” Every arrangement is carefully planned, colour matched, cleaned, conditioned, arranged, transported, installed, and styled to suit the overall vision of the wedding day.
Fresh flowers are also delicate and seasonal. Certain blooms may only be available during specific months, while premium flowers such as peonies, orchids, reflexed roses, and hydrangeas naturally come at a higher price due to quality and demand. Large installations require mechanics, structures, candles, vases, floral foam, water sources, staff, transport, and setup teams all before guests even arrive.
A florist is not simply selling flowers,they are selling creativity, experience, logistics, design, labour, and the ability to transform a space into something unforgettable. Quality flowers, professional execution, and reliable service will never truly be “cheap,” because beauty at this level comes with real cost behind the scenes.
