Well now is the perfect opportunity!
Once every 4 years we as ladies have the opportunity to propose to him on leap year day (29th of February). In 1288, Scottish Law gave women the opportunity to propose during leap years, if her partner refused he had to pay a penalty, such as a gown (clothing from the middle ages) or money. The Irish believed that women proposing on the 29th of February was good luck.
If you are unsure whether or not to propose, watch the popular movie Leap Year with Amy Adams to put you in the right mood. You will only get an opportunity like this once every four years.
To pick out a ring can be tricky so might we suggest another jewellery item such as a necklace or bracelet, it’s the idea that counts. Make the event personal and special with something your better half likes to do, a picnic with roses might not be it, but maybe a nice biltong and beer hamper while fishing will do the trick. If you are already engaged but you like the idea of the Leap year folklore, propose to him again. It will just boost your romance and it will be a nice surprise to your better half and you both will forever remember the special day.
