Planning your wedding flowers is one of the most exciting and personal parts of designing your day. At Petal & Kin, we believe florals should feel like they belong — in the space, the season, and the story you’re telling as a couple.
One of the first things we help our clients think about is what’s in season during their wedding month. Seasonal blooms are fresher, more cost-effective, and often more sustainable — and they help us create arrangements that feel natural and intentional.
Summer’s wedding in late July, in the heart of winter, was a perfect example of how working with the season can still produce soft, romantic florals. Her bouquet and arrangements featured a mix of preserved elements, locally sourced winter blooms, and textural foliage, all in a delicate pastel palette that felt airy and timeless, even in the colder months.
Winter weddings in South Africa can still be floral-rich. Think anemones, proteas, ranunculus, hellebores, and interesting dried or preserved textures. We also lean into foliage — especially varieties that add movement and contrast — to bring fullness and life to each arrangement.
At Petal & Kin, we’ll guide you through what’s blooming, what’s beautiful, and what’s possible. We’ll help you create something deeply personal and seasonally appropriate — whether you’re planning a high-summer celebration or a cozy winter wedding like Summer’s.
If you’re dreaming about your wedding flowers, we’d love to chat. Let’s create something beautiful, together.
