Glowing, healthy skin is the best starting point for beautiful bridal makeup. The secret isn’t a last-minute facial the week before – it’s a simple skin prep timeline that gives your skin time to calm, heal and glow.
Here’s an easy bridal skin prep guide you can follow in the months before your wedding.
3–6 Months Before: Set Up Your Routine
This is the ideal time to:
- Book a professional skin consultation or facial.
- Start (or tidy up) a consistent routine: gentle cleanser, hydrating serum, moisturiser and SPF.
- Slowly introduce exfoliation 1–2 times a week to help with texture and dullness.
Dermaplaning: If you’re interested in dermaplaning (to remove peach fuzz and dead skin), this is when you should try your first treatment, so you can see how your skin responds.
6–8 Weeks Before: Stay Consistent
Now’s not the time for experimenting. Stick to what works:
- Keep up with facials or dermaplaning if your skin reacted well.
- Hydrate inside and out – drink water, use hydrating serums and moisturisers.
- Avoid harsh scrubs or over-exfoliating, which can irritate the skin.
Most brides like to book their second or third dermaplaning session around 4–6 weeks before the wedding, if needed.
1–2 Weeks Before: Protect the Glow
In the final stretch:
- Avoid trying new products, masks or treatments.
- Gently exfoliate once or twice so your skin is smooth for makeup.
- If you’re doing your final dermaplaning, aim for 7–10 days before the wedding so any slight sensitivity has settled and your skin is perfectly smooth.
- Keep your skin hydrated and avoid sleeping in makeup.
The Day Before & Wedding Morning
- Keep skincare simple and soothing.
- No picking, squeezing or last-minute experiments.
- Get a good night’s sleep and drink water.
On the day, I’ll prep your skin properly before makeup so everything looks smooth, fresh and radiant.
