A beautiful bridal spray tan isn’t about looking super dark – it’s about a soft, even glow that makes your dress, skin and photos look incredible. When it’s done properly, you’ll look like you’ve just come back from a relaxing holiday… not like you’ve rolled in orange body shimmer.

Here’s your simple Bridal Spray Tan 101 guide.

When Should a Bride Book Her Spray Tan?

For the wedding day tan, the sweet spot is usually 2 days before your wedding.

This gives:

  • The colour time to fully develop and settle.
  • You time for that first rinse so there’s no excess bronzer on your dress.
  • Any slight marks or patches time to blend out.

I always recommend doing a trial spray tan at least 4–6 weeks before your wedding. Time it with a dress fitting, engagement shoot or bridal shower so you can see how the colour photographs and how it looks against your dress.

How to Prep Your Skin

Good prep = even, long-lasting colour.

  1. Exfoliate 24 hours before your tan (especially knees, elbows, ankles).
  2. Shave or wax at least 24 hours before – never just before your tan.
  3. Arrive with clean, product-free skin: no moisturiser, perfume, deodorant or makeup.

This helps the tan go on smoothly and prevents patchiness.

Choosing the Right Shade

For brides, I always suggest:

  • Soft, golden or warm tones.
  • Staying close to your natural colouring – just a couple of shades deeper.

You should look healthy and radiant, not like a different person. That’s why a trial is so important – we can adjust the depth and undertone until it’s perfect.

Aftercare for a Flawless Finish

To keep your glow beautiful through the wedding and into your honeymoon:

  • Do your first rinse exactly when advised.
  • Pat dry, don’t rub, after showers.
  • Moisturise daily to keep your tan from fading patchy.
  • Avoid long hot baths, harsh scrubs and swimming for too long in chlorinated pools.

A bridal spray tan, done properly, is like a real-life filter – soft, flattering and confidence-boosting.
