We can all agree that gratitude does not come easy these days. The more I encounter people each passing day the more I realise that people are always in a hurry, always busy to find additional ways to create an income, always busy with children or work, just always busy. Between the chaotic rat race, we also try to live. To go for that coffee with your friends, to book that holiday, to go hiking in nature. This is something I tend to forget.
I have realised that between the moments of being busy and not experiencing living, I found that gratitude is one virtue that lack the most. People will find minor setbacks as major, people will complain more, people will become more negative and nervous, bossier or mean to others. The moment when we make an active decision to practise gratitude the more enjoyable life becomes. We tend to find the silver lining. Someone stole your money? No worries, at least you have food on your plate. Did not get the job you wanted? at least you still have a job. To be grateful, we need to make the active decision to live in that way. By practising. I found that the people who have the least are more grateful compared to a person who has everything. That is something we can all agree on. Gratitude means to take a moment and reflect on how lucky you are when something good happens, whether it is small or big. I think it is time we celebrate the small things and other people. In 1 Thessalonians 5:18 it states, “give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”.
I think I speak for everyone when I say that all of us want to live in the will of God. By doing so makes us happier and helps us to fulfil our purpose.
Goedheid InniSkuur is thankful for a couple such as Dylan & Simoné who lives with total gratitude. They are a true example.
