Protein is very important for every single person, every day. And if you are very active it’s even more important.

Dana Ryan the Director, Sport Performance and Nutrition Education of Herbalife Nutrition says the following of Protein:  Proteins are made up of amino acids, and these proteins and amino acids are the main building blocks of our muscles, bones, skin, tissue, and organs.  We consume protein, our body breaks it down into individual amino acids during digestion and then uses these amino acids to create new proteins throughout the body.  It is essential to consume and adequate amount of protein, otherwise, the body will have to break down muscle to obtain the amino acids that it needs to function.
There are 3 main benefits of protein:
1.  Protein helps you feel full for longer.
2.  Protein boosts metabolism
3.  Protein aids with muscle recovery and build
Protein is also beneficial for your hair and skin. Your cells need protein to maintain their life and it’s also the primary material used to replace dead cells.  Your hair, nails and skin are made out of protein.  A diet low in protein can over the course of months cause a loss in skin tone, thinning of your hair and can cause premature wrinkles.
For me personally I have seen a huge difference by adding more protein to my diet especially with my snacks.  It really keeps me full for longer and has given my metabolism a huge boost.
