Casablanca, an all-time classic romance movie, takes place in the town of Casablanca, Morocco, in the 1940’s. It is an Oscar winning movie, and is rated as the most watched, loved romance movie of all time. This was the inspiration for the styled shoot that was done to celebrate the 15th birthday anniversary of Casablanca Manor Wedding Venue. The movie theme together with the 1940’s era, the town Casablanca and the Casablanca lily were all different elements pulled together in the story board.
The name Casablanca Manor was born out of the marriage of three different “Casablanca” elements. Namely, the movie “Casablanca”; the town Casablanca (with hints and tastes of Morocco); and the elegant Casablanca Lily of which the symbolic meaning is ‘a Gift from Above’, purity, celebration and happiness. This is no wonder that pure white Casablanca lilies are used in nearly all special occasions because of the symbolic meaning of celebrations, and it is one of the world’s most favourite wedding flowers, and they #smelldivine!
A team of creatives were brought together to bring the love story to life, and to demonstrate their passion for weddings. The couple that acted out the different love scenes was Anél and Dewald Wasserfall. It was very special to have them part of the styled shoot, as they had said their “I do’s” at Casablanca Manor. It was great fun working with them, with their sparkling fun personalities, and the strong love that they show for each other. Yes, they are still very much in love. We had time in-between scenes to reminisce about some of the special and fun memories of their wedding day.
All of the “Casablanca” elements were brought together throughout the different love scenes. They included the following: the three beautiful wedding dresses from Bridal House that reflected the love, romance and classical styles from that era; the Hollywood movie make-up and hair look done by Style Productions; the three different smart men’s suites from Eurosuit Brooklyn; the breathtakingly beautiful neck piece from The Art of Silver; the beautiful detailed ornate wedding cake done by La Morain; the Moroccan picnic by Cori-li, Executive chef at Casablanca Manor (yes, she even poured the tea the Moroccan way) and the décor styling and flowers that were done by the Casablanca Manor team.
The Grand Piano with the Gin and Cigar Bar scene was from the Casablanca movie where Humphrey Bogart says, “Out of all the Gin Joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine!”
